Redesigning Property Inspection Workflows with Systems Thinking and AI

DrBalcony builds software for property safety and inspection management. When I joined, the product suite was growing fast across customers, inspectors, and administrators; but lacked a unified design language or consistent user experience.

I led end-to-end design across three surfaces: the customer platform for property owners and managers, a task-driven inspector mobile app, and a multi-role admin dashboard. My focus was to streamline high-friction workflows, establish a scalable design system, and introduce AI-assisted content guidance into the product experience.

Impact

  • Standardised UI across 3 product squads with a design system containing 100+ tokens and 300+ component states

  • ≈70% improvement in inspector task completion after usability-led workflow redesign

  • Reduced UX writing drift by ≈40% through a custom ChatGPT-powered assistant

  • Enabled faster delivery by introducing patterns and documentation teams could adopt quickly
